More About
  Laser Dentistry

At Sherwood Dental we are committed to staying at the forefront of technological advancements in dentistry. We use the latest state of the art dental technologies and techniques that allow us to provide services that are faster, more effective, and less invasive.

Hard tissue

Lasers are used for many purposes in dentistry including directly on teeth in need of fillings, preparation for bonding and even during more involved procedures such as root canal therapy.

Lasers use concentrated light to remove damages tooth structure. They are highly accurate and allow us to remove less tooth structure than traditional drilling. They also eliminate the vibration and noise that can cause anxiety for some patients.

Lasers also allow us to use less anesthetic (freezing), so we can work on more areas in a single visit and can get back to your day sooner after your visit. The result that is left by the laser is clean and hygienic offering a great surface for composite/white fillings and restorations to bond to.

Lasers are fast, effective and offer us a more comfortable alternative for preparing your tooth for a restoration.

Soft Tissue

As with the lasers used on your teeth, we can also use specific lasers for soft tissue such as on your gums and the inside of your cheeks. The use of lasers for soft tissue treatments allows us to be very precise as to the area affected.

This precision creates a situation with less swelling and faster healing. In our office lasers are used in many situations including gum surgery and contouring as well as periodontal treatments, all with an increased hygienic environment and decreased recovery times.

Please feel free to ask about our Dental Laser on your next visit or through our ‘ask a dentist’ a question section.
